LIVING SPRINGS FELLOWSHIP

A New & Living Way

"Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh" (Heb. 10:19-20)

It would have been unheard of for any Jewish person to think they could just come boldly into the inner sanctuary of the temple or to dare go past the veil into the holy of holies where God's glory would dwell. There were certain requirements that needed to be met and only those appointed to the priesthood could be candidates. But such is the case no longer...as ALL of God's children are NOW invited to come BOLDLY to God through Jesus Christ...no matter what we might be facing or dealing with at any given moment.

Jesus' death on the cross opened up the doors to heaven for us continually ever since the thick and heavy veil inside the temple was torn from top to bottom. This torn veil symbolically represented the sacrificial flesh of Christ and thus openly reveals that we are now able to have bold access to God's throne of grace anytime. Paul, writing to the Ephesian believers, declared to them that the middle wall of separation is broken and we can be brought near to God by the precious blood of Christ, "in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him" (Eph. 3:12).

Just consider this glorious truth that heaven and earth has been forever bridged. This is just like what Jacob saw in his vision of a ladder joining heaven and earth with angels ascending and descending from there. Jesus has become that ladder for us all...the New and Living Way for God's people to enter and enjoy the presence of God. O how marvelous it is that nothing has to hinder our fellowship and nearness to God!

This means that we don't have to wait to go to heaven when we die but rather HEAVEN CAN COME TO US WHILE WE LIVE! Amen and Amen!

The writer of Hebrews goes further and explains how this open access to God gives to us blessed privileges that leads us into this new and living way.

There are THREE “Let us” practical points that we can now participate in:
  • Let us draw near…in FAITH (v.22)
  • Let us hold fast our confession…of HOPE (v.23)
  • Let us consider one another…in LOVE (v.24)

This is very similar to how Paul the Apostle summarized walking in "the more excellent way" in his letter to the Corinthians, when he said, "And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love" (1 Cor. 13:13).

The love of the Father and the love we share in the family of God will continue forever. This is why "love" is the greatest of all as we abide in faith, hope, and love.

We can draw near boldly but we still must maintain a reverence for God and keep our hearts right with Him but praise God that we do not have to jump over any religious hoops or offer any further sacrifices to come boldly to our loving Father in heaven.

We want to daily come to the Lord and draw near "with a true heart...in full assurance of faith...a good conscience...and a body washed in pure water." As we draw near to God, we know that He will draw near to us. When we know God is near to us, then we can also know that we have access to ALL of His heavenly resources.

Furthermore, we also need to know what we believe and to continually confess our confession of faith. There is something powerful that takes place in our hearts and in the spiritual realm when we speak the truth that has been freely given to us by God. We must confess our sins whenever they are committed and then speak out our faith to the One who is forever committed to us!

Paul told his spiritual son Timothy, "Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate (1 Tim. 6:12-13). We need to combat Satan's lies with the truth of God's holy Word and know what we believe and WHO we are fully trusting in.

Finally, we need to allow Christ's love to overflow out of our lives. This is the NEW LAW in the NEW COVENANT (John 13:34-35). We are called to consider one another and to stir each other up toward love and good works. Let us take time to care for one another and to listen and discern what our deeper needs are that we might be instruments of God to meet any needs by the supply of God's Spirit.

This means that need to regularly and consistently assemble together and gather as the family of God. For we are one body made up of many members. Therefore, let us know that "...God composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it, that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another" (1 Cor. 12:24-25).

This Week’s New Covenant Exhortation:
Let us live in the intimacy of fellowship with God within the Holy of Holies.
Let us draw near to God in FAITH.
Let us hold fast our confession of HOPE.
Let us consider one another in Christ’s LOVE.
