LIVING SPRINGS FELLOWSHIP

Jesus, The Perfect Sacrifice

"And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation" (Hebrews 9:27-28).

Could anything ever be so important on earth that would be worth giving up the joys of heaven?

Jesus once taught that even if a man were to gain the whole world it would not be worth losing his own soul..."For what can man give in exchange for his soul?" (Matt. 16:24)

Life is a precious gift and it should not be wasted, depreciated, or misaligned with our Creator. God didn't just create us to live and survive but to arrive to our loving Creator....nor did He save us so that we would occupy space until we make it to heaven. Rather, God desires that we live in such a way that we learn to bring heaven down to the earth today!

The Apostle Paul said it best when he said, "For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain" (Phil. 1:21). Paul knew what God had saved him FROM but he also knew what God had saved him TO. He had a desire to go home and be with the Lord, which was far greater, but He knew that to remain here on earth was more needful for others.

Every choice that we make matters. Every word that we speak adds to life or takes it away. Every day is of temporal or eternal value depending upon whether we are faithfully following Jesus or not! We are living in a time where the perfect sacrifice has already been performed and the greatest gift has been offered to the world and God's kingdom has been birthed in the hearts of forgiven men and women. The question is, "What we are doing for heaven's sake?"

Have you ever considered that...If today was your last day on earth, how much treasure would you have stored up in heaven at this point?

There is coming a day when our life will be weighed for what really matters in the eternal perspective of things. The Apostle Paul reminded the believers of this very truth when he said, "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad" (2 Cor. 5:10)

While many lost souls will be judged on whether they received or rejected the free gift of salvation offered to them in Christ, we who are saved will be judged on how we served the Lord and others and how we are stewarding the heavenly gift and how we fulfilled God's heavenly purpose here on earth. We may now know when we will die, but we do know that we are alive now and that we will be standing before the Lord in the not so distant future.

Since everyone has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, there must be a sacrifice that God accepts to turn His wrath away from His rebellious creation. God's answer was Jesus!

Only Jesus lived a sinless life and yet died a sinner's death,
then filled us with His sanctified life to give us His purpose to our every breath.

In summary, Jesus GAVE HIS ALL and PAID IT ALL to give us ALL that belongs to Him!
  • His death on a cross replaced the SINNER.
  • The blood that He shed takes away our SIN.
  • His Resurrection power allows us to live and be forever glorified with Him!

How amazing is God's love toward us to make this all possible!

We learn from the first death that ever died on the earth that Abel's blood called out to God from below. But the GOOD NEWS is that Jesus came from above to reverse the curse and to take the sting out of death ONCE AND FOR ALL! God has accepted this sacrifice and we must give worth "to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel" (Heb. 12:24).

So while some hope that they will make it to heaven one day, let us LIVE IN SUCH A WAY that we may know how to BRING HEAVEN DOWN TO EARTH EACH PASSING DAY!

For all those who are FORGIVEN should live a life turned around and know who we are GIVEN FOR!

This Week’s New Covenant Exhortation:
Since Jesus is the PERFECT SACRIFICE, who suffered in our place to atone for our sins,
Let us purify ourselves and LIVE HONESTLY and HEAVENLY as we await His Second Appearing!
